Vague names get spent
A pile called 'savings' or 'misc' is an invitation. Flags need a job: rainy jar, hall fee, August trip, parade extra. If you would be embarrassed to spend the pile on snacks, the flag is working. If you would not, the name is still fog.
You can use envelopes, a second account, or a note in a banking app. The container matters less than the noun. Do not make more flags than you will update. Four is plenty.
A pretend example. Replace 'savings' with 'rainy jar — one plain month' and 'misc' with 'hall fee due May.' The second one stops being a snack fund the day it gets a month.
Try this. Rename two piles so each flag has a job and, if you can, a date.
